Volunteering for Petco Love Presents Houston's Third Mega Adoption Event
On October 21st and 22nd, 2023, the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston was transformed into a haven for furry friends, thanks to the incredible efforts of Petco Love and a dedicated team of volunteers. The third annual Houston Mega Adoption Event brought together over 1,000 rescue animals of all shapes and sizes, all hoping to find their forever homes.
As a volunteer at the event, I had the privilege of witnessing the heartwarming connections that were made between people and animals. From playful puppies to wise senior dogs, each furry face had a unique story to tell, and the volunteers were there to help their personalities shine through.
Over 1,000 animals found their forever homes: This was the event's primary goal, and it's safe to say it was achieved with flying colors. More than a thousand rescue cats, kittens, puppies, and dogs from various shelters and organizations were adopted by loving families.
Affordable adoption fees: The event offered significantly reduced adoption fees of just $35, making pet adoption more accessible to a wider range of people. This likely contributed to the high adoption rate.
Positive impact on shelters and rescue organizations: By finding homes for so many animals, the event helped alleviate overcrowding in shelters and rescue organizations, freeing up resources to care for other animals in need.
